It's quick, paleo-friendly and won't kick you out of ketosis. Just like my Chai Tea Latte, this one is made with fragrant autumn spices. Ingredients (makes 2 servings)


  1. Make the chai tea concentrate using 1/4 cup of boiling water and 1 chai tea bag and leave it to infuse for 3-5 minutes. Alternatively, you can make your own chai tea concentrate using the spices and black tea in this recipe: Chai Tea Latte. Place all the dry ingredients in bowl and combine well. Keto Chai Tea Mug Cake
  2. Add the cinnamon, eggs, melted coconut oil, stevia (if used) ... Keto Chai Tea Mug Cake

  4. Microwave each mug cake on high for 70-90 seconds.
    Tips for cooking in the oven: If you don't have a microwave, I suggest you make 4-8 servings at once. Preheat the oven to 175 °C/ 350 °F and cook for about 12-15 minutes or until cooked in the centre. Keto Chai Tea Mug Cake

Excited to try this! If I wanted to nix the almond flour and just use coconut flour... would you say maybe 3 "heaping" tbsp? And/or a little more liquid perhaps?

Hi Lindsay, I'm sorry I just noticed your comment! Yes that would be about right, use a total of 3 heaped tablespoons (about 36 g/ 1.3 oz) coconut flour. Liquid should be fine as it is but you could add one more tablespoon if you feel that the dough is too thick. I hope this helps! 😊

This was so good! I added a bit more spices to it and used a sugar free Torani syrup Chai Tea flavored because I was out of chai tea bags. It was excellent and I love that it makes two. I put the other (batter) in the fridge for another night this week.
I wonder if the batter could be frozen and thawed for another time. I would love to have these on hand when people bring sugar loaded deserts I can just have one of these ready. I might give that a try.

I think it's better if you prepare the dry mix (maybe for 4-8 servings and then just measure out about 90 g (3.2 oz) + add all of the liquid ingredients to make 2 mug cakes, or 45 g (1.6 oz) + half of the liquid ingredients to make 1 mug cake. I don't think the batter would freeze well. Of you can make the mug cake, let it cool and then freeze. You can then let it defrost or briefly reheat in the oven to serve.

I made these this morning and put a small amount of blue berries on top and about 1Theavy whipping cream drizzled over it. Delish. The hubby loved it. A great  change from what’s and bacon in the morning.

King Arthur Flour Company has a bulk Chai Spice mix.  Works great in baked goods. All spices, no fillers.

These are absolutely delicious! I wouldn't have thought that I could just use chai tea.... which I love!!! That was the main reason I never wanted to bother with recipes that use chai spice because I never had all of them 😊 Thank you for making keto eating easy!
