This is my quick step-by-step guide to dalgona coffee with a chocolate twist! It's served over iced chocolate almond milk so it's the perfect refreshment for a hot summer day.

From the Original Low-carb Dalgona to Dalgona Matcha Latte and even Dalgona Chocolate Milk — I've tried them all! This low-carb mocha dalgona coffee is best served with lots of ice and a dash of cinnamon.

How To Make Mocha Dalgona Coffee

It’s simple. Equal parts instant coffee, sweetener and hot water are combined to create an intense coffee flavored foam. This foam is served over iced chocolate almond milk instead of regular dairy milk.

You can also use cashew milk, poppy milk or any nut or seed milk — it's easy to make your own!

If you don't like nut milk, you can use coconut milk (ideally carton, liquid coconut milk, not creamy) mixed with water, or heavy whipping cream mixed with water. I'd use 1 cup of coconut milk or cream and 2 cups of water.

What other flavors would you like me to make? Any wishes? Let me know in the comments 😊

  2. Mix on low for a minute to dissolve the sweetener. Mix on high for up to 5 minutes. Low-Carb Mocha Dalgona Coffee
  3. Once ready, the mixture becomes light brown in color and thick and fluffy in texture. Low-Carb Mocha Dalgona Coffee
  4. Meanwhile, mix the almond milk with cacao powder and the remaining sweetener. You can use a shaker bottle or a blender to get the milk nice and frothy. Optionally, add a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla.
  5. Fill each glass ice and then with the chocolate milk until about 3/4 full. I have found that the foam dissipates quite fast so have everything ready to go as soon as it is ready.
  6. Spoon the coffee foam on top of the chocolate milk.

I changed the way I ate in 2011, when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid. I had no energy, and I found it more and more difficult to maintain a healthy weight.

That’s when I decided to quit sugar, grains, and processed foods, and to start following a whole-foods-based ketogenic approach to food.

I love this recipe! My family and I make it often!! Thank you so much for sharing!!♥️♥️

Thank you Juli, glad you like it!

How much cocoa powder? Its not in the ingredient list. Looks good, though.

Thank you for noticing - just added!

I love these dalgona drinks . Ever since you introduced me to the coffee version, my coffee hasn't been the same. In fact I don't even crave shop bought coffee anymore. I love the matcha version too. And this one is delicious😋 !
But you forgot to list the cacao in the ingredient list.
Future ideas: something cold and fruity/strawberries? Can you use yesterday's Fluffy Keto Strawberry Cream by Low Carb Yum to make a Dalgona drink?
Or mint choc chip?
Addition of nut powder or butter?

Thank you Amina, I think those are great suggestions! Would you like me to keep the coffee flavour in the recipe or could it be without it?
I have a caramel latte dalgona that I'll share soon and I've tried a raspberry milk dalgona but it didn't go well. It was raspberry milk topped with raspberry cream but the cream curdled with the raspberries so I'll need to try again. I think I just over-whipped the cream. I'm just thinking about these:
- peanut butter dalgona with chocolate topping (no coffee?)
- berry milk with cream topping (this one almost definitely without coffee, just a few more variations of what I've done with either cream topping or whipped egg whites)
- the mint chocolate chip sounds great and I think it will look pretty!

Thanks Martina. I honestly look forward to the caramel latte dalgona. I have a bunch of sugar free syrups waiting to be used in exciting recipes! I don't know if mint choc chip will ever work but it was my favourite flavour ice cream growing up and I just love mint thins. My drinks don't have to be caffeinated. I always go to whatever looks appealing and tastes good!

Now I'm thinking chocolate milk with minty chocolate topping 😊 I'll do my best!
