Sarah won the 5th prize in our 90-Day KetoDiet Challenge!
I was recently diagnosed with pancreatic hyperinsulinemia and my doctor wants me to eat a ketogenic diet. I've struggled with weight regardless of how healthy I eat. I've done a few of the clean eating 30 day programs and felt better but certainly didn't have the carbs under control.
I'm a mom, a wife, and I love to travel. I would consider myself a foodie and eating out has been difficult. I also enjoy cooking. I've felt like the over weight unhealthy person I am on the outside does not reflect the beautiful person I am on the inside.
Why Did I Join?
I joined this challenge because I feel that being a part of something helps motivation. I won't feel like I'm doing this alone. It keeps me accountable and it's a place I can track my progress so I can see that it's working.
What Helped You Stay on Track?
I worked with a nutritionist and doctor who focus on nutrition for health improvement. They did weekly weigh ins and helped me to be accountable. Tweaking my macros helped a lot and really may sure I was in ketosis all the time. Also, the KetoDiet app gave me awesome recipes to use and that helped me when I was missing a type of food I usually would have craved.
How Has KetoDiet Helped?
My health is so much better and my insulin numbers are getting back to normal. The KetoDiet challenge has helped me to kickstart my weight loss goals and I was able to see visible changes. It's also fun to see all the other success stories!
What Are Your Favourite KetoDiet Recipes?
I'd have to say my favorite recipe is the Keto Buns. I miss eating bread and butter. So, with the buns, I can get my bread craving satisfied while adding a nice big serving of fat. I also loved the fat bombs. Yummy!! A lot of recipes are amazing!
How Can We Improve the KetoDiet Challenges?
My nutritionist has me using my fitness pal as the way to track macros and my food diary. It would be really cool if the two were a little comparable or if there was a macro and food diary on my KetoDiet app. (KetoDiet note: The universal iOs app with planning & tracking functionality is coming in January 2017. We are now beta testing!)
Also, it is a little extra work to leave the app and go to the web page to enter challenge progress and weight. It would be cool it that was integrated into the app. (KetoDiet note: in our to-do list for 2017!) But if nothing changes, I'll still be using it!! Thanks for all your hard work and information you publish!
