Hi Friends,

My new book, Keto Slow Cooker and One-Pot Meals, has been released just a few days ago! Thanks to your amazing support, it's now #1 New Release in Low-Carb Diets on Amazon!

Working on this book was hard work but I had a lot of fun and loved every moment of it. If you ever feel that your kitchen is a mess, you should see my kitchen (did I say just my kitchen?) when I'm working on a cookbook. Now that my book is finally out, I can't wait to get your feedback!

Why Slow Cooking?

Slow cookers are gaining popularity and there's a good reason for it. They are just what we need for our busy lifestyles, especially when you can't cook every day, or have no more than a few minutes to prepare a healthy keto meal.

You can literally spend just five minutes prepping the ingredients in the morning, throw them in the slow cooker, set the timer, and wait for the magic to happen. When you get home from work, dinner is ready to be served!

What's Inside?

My new book, Keto Slow Cooker and One-Pot Meals includes over 100 delicious slow cooker recipes and one-pot wonders. Additionally, you will find 25 quick-prep keto basics including condiments, spices and stocks. Apart from ketogenic friendly recipes, I included a guide for slow cooking on a whole foods based ketogenic diet using simple low-carb ingredients. As in all of my books, each recipe includes a detailed nutrition breakdown and allergy information.

To learn more about my new Keto Slow Cooker & One-Pot Meals book and to see what's inside, check out this post.

I changed the way I ate in 2011, when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid. I had no energy, and I found it more and more difficult to maintain a healthy weight.

That’s when I decided to quit sugar, grains, and processed foods, and to start following a whole-foods-based ketogenic approach to food.

Hello,
I purchased your Keto Slow Cooker & One Pot Meals book and, although I love it, I have a question about one of the recipes. I made the Macadamia Chai Cake on page 194 last weekend and was wondering if flour should have been included in the recipe? I made it as per the ingredients/instructions and it eventually cooked but came out more like a slice than a cake. Should I have added 1 cup of almond flour or something?
I'd really appreciate your response.
Thank you in advance,
Kathleen

Hi Kathleen, I'm sorry for the delayed response. It's always hard to keep up with the comments on the blog!
I'm so sorry, you are right. This is very frustrating and it never happened but in this case I made a mistake and the almond flour got lost in the editing process. It should include 2 cups of almond flour too (200 g/ 7.1 oz) added after the blending of macadamias and coconut butter, together with the sweetener. It will be fixed for any future reprints.

Plan. Plan. Plan. A meal plan. A shopping list.
Cook ahead: I expect that life will derail our family’s eating plan. That’s where pre-prepped and frozen meals meet our slow cooker. When a kid is sick and I can’t cook what was on the meal plan, I pull out the slow cooker and dig through my freezer for a meal.
Research available options for eating out. There are times when I can’t cook or pack snacks. I know what is Keto friendly at area restaurants before I leave the house.

1) Plan your meals and take diner of the day before as lunch the next day
2) Here it's possible to order the grocery with an app and just pick up the grocery: fantastic way to not spend unnecessary money or buy (bad) foods you don't need. You can also search for cheaper food and compare products. It's also good that the ingredients and kcal are added.
3) Meals casserole (don't have a slow cooker 😉) to spend time: just cut the foods and then in a dish in the oven.
Just love the app and the website! Great help with the Keto diet.

Thank you for your kind words, Karolien!

Top 3 tips
Simple meals
Plan ahead
Find and try new recipes.. don't eat the same stuff over and over or you will get bu ent out.

Love the recipes and the huge range of selection because my husband is very picky.
My fav is that you can create the shopping list based on the recipes you choose.
We have a tendency to be wasteful (composter food), but we need to work on doing this better

My top tips to same money and time when cooking are:
1. Prepare your meals at home (definitely healthier than in a restaurant and cheaper, and if you're just beginning to cook use an awesome and easy cookbook like Martina's)
2. Do groceries about once a week and try different markets or shops to compare availability and prices, and buy in bulk whenever possible
3. Cook a lot at once and freeze food for the next days in one serving containers. Less cooking time throughout the week and definitely less dishes so no wasted time on cleaning (or get a dishwasher if you can afford it, it has saved us a lot of time throughout the years)
Good luck all!

Top 3 time and money saving cooking/ meal prep tips??
I am always looking for them because I am really bad at meal planning.

I'd love to be entered to win your cookbook for slow cookers! Do I enter by commenting here?
Here are my tips:
1. plan your meals
2. keep it simple
3. don't be afraid to experiment

Yes, that's it (just make sure to logged in through Rafflecopter - see above) 😊

Need a jump start to embrace the keto lifestyle again. It's been too long and my body is feeling it!

Plan ahead. Always have a list of items needed for meals.
Make extra, meal prep for week done!
Only buy what you need, no waste!

I build my weekly menus around store ads to save money.  I wash, clean and chop vegetables to save time.  I make use of leftovers to save money and time.

1) It sounds boring but if you can simplify your list of staples for the week to the same general meals and snacks, it saves a ton of time in the grocery store not having to pull up recipes and track down obscure ingredients
2) Freeze soup in zip-loc bags inside storage containers, and once it's frozen, take it out of the storage container. This way you get the easy to store shape, but without having to tie up all your storage containers every time you make a big batch. Also, you can just thaw it in the bag.
3) Meal prep meal prep meal prep. Do it once, make a couple big batches and freeze them, then thaw them as you want variety.

1) Plan your meals ahead and shop for an entire week's worth of ingredients at once.
2) Cook in batches
3) Make use of your freezer to store already made meals or bagged ingredients ready for the slow cooker.

I use my instant pot all the time to save on time. I need to get better at meal planning while on the Keto diet and hoping this cookbook will help. It makes it hard when you have to cook for your children too.

Plan ahead
Look for discounts /coupons
freezing meals for the week

My best time-saving strategies are to
1)cook extra and freeze leftovers for another meal
2) when prepping look what you can chop or add into the next meal - you waste a lot less
3) purchase your meat from a farmer. You get different cuts, including steaks for a really good price....or raise your own.....great sweat equity 😊

I’m just getting into the keto diet... this book looks amazing!
My tips would be...
1. Prepare a list, I try to do it by aisle so it saves me time running all over the store.
2. Slow cooker meals to eat and freeze
3. Prep my veggies and things like that when I get back from shopping.
Thanks for the chance,
M Shene

Thanks for your generosity! And anywhere regardless of where we live is awesome.

Hi....I would like to enter your giveaway however I need to know if your cookbook includes serving sizes? I went on Amazon and they have one of your recipes posted but there is no actual serving size it just lists nutrients as per serving. I find this happens a lot with keto recipes that I find online and it’s frustrating because in order to figure out the serving size you have to weigh the entire end product before digging in.  Even if I don’t enter the giveaway I will certainly buy this book if I know the serving sizes are listed . Thank you for your time in getting back to me.
Keto inspired,
Yemaya

Thank you for your kind words, Yemaya! It is just the preview that is missing this piece of information because all of my recipes include number of servings plus serving sizes (where it's possible to determine it precisely). I hope this helps 😊

1. Buying non-fashionalbe meats (offal and fattier cuts) and about to go bad vegetables
2. Using slow-cooker
3. Freezing leftovers, keeping a list of all things in the freezer, planning meals in advance
Bonus 4. Fasting

I'm so glad to see #1 in your list! That is what I'm buying all the time! And it pairs well with a slow cooker that can cook even the toughest meat cuts to perfection 😊

Awesome,
Now that I have not one but two slow cooker, this book will be a must have.  Specially for the holidays and after.

1. Look for sales
2. Take the time it’ll be worth it
3 look online for ideas

To save time and money, I batch cook. Get 12 eggs hardboiled, chop spinach and veggies, whip up a dressing of mayo, butter, Apple cider vinegar and spices -- divvy up into containers with 2 peeled eggs each. Grab and go!  Plus I make a batch of fat bombs with butter, coconut oil, on and cocoa. Freeze 1 table spoon portions. Put small nut mixes in zippy bags to grab and go, too!

1.  Keep Cooked Meat on Hand
2.  Make Double Batches
3.  Stock Up On Basics

buy in balk to save shopping time and not buying items that will sabotage your way of eating
cook in advance and portion
use slow cooker and portion
when you do this you save time in the long run and will be more apt to stay focused
