5. Keto Calculator

10 Resources To Kick-Start Your Keto Diet

Following a ketogenic diet doesn't guarantee weight loss. It helps to keep an eye on your fat intake and use a good macronutrient calculator. The closer you get to your target weight, the more important that becomes. Additionally, you need to ensure that you're eating sufficient amount of protein to stay satiated and prevent muscle loss.

Our keto calculator will give you recommendations depending on your goal (weight maintenance, weight loss or weight gain). The calculations we used are based on widely accepted research and recommendations made by Dr. Volek and Dr. Phinney. We put a lot of effort to ensure that unlike some other calculators, you get sensible results that will help you with your diet.

I changed the way I ate in 2011, when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid. I had no energy, and I found it more and more difficult to maintain a healthy weight.

That’s when I decided to quit sugar, grains, and processed foods, and to start following a whole-foods-based ketogenic approach to food.

Hi Martina,
Nice app, I like the main stream approach.
I would like to be in contact with you by email or skype because we are writing about low carb and keto from a scientific perspective and would be interested to collaborate with your site/app.
Let us know how to proceed or send us a email.

I started Keto about 1 month ago but have a # of questions. Would love to hear others opinions on the following.
Apple Cider Vinegar (I take 2-3 tbsp/morning)
Tumeric shot (2 tsp tumeric + pepper w/water)
Metamucil (1 tsp/day w/water)
Hidden Valley Ranch (usually use it on my salads) - better option?
Chicken - it is a low fat protein so I tend to go with beef but what if you eat it with the skin? Does it become a good option?
Turkey burger/bacon - avoid and go with the beef/pork versions because they are fattier right?
Best Foods Mayo? Eat or Pass?
Nuts - Raw or salted?

Hello....I have fibromyalgia and I'm limited to swimming as my exercise. So I'm looking forward to shedding fat with your diet.
Years ago I did the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet and lost 35 pounds...and kept it off for ten years. So I know low carb works. Its just getting my lazy butt to do it.

I started itching just over a week into the keto diet, any ideas on how to relieve it and what the cause might be?

Hi Kate, this could be keto rash. If you google "keto rash", you will find tips on how to cure it. I hope this helps!

I am very interested in starting the Ketogenic diet, which of the keto cookbooks would you recommend I buy first? I have bought many different books for different diets and I don't want to buy another one only to find it is the wrong one .
Thank you.

Hi Rahab, I think that my Quick Keto book may be the best way to start: ketodietapp.com/books (keep in mind it is mostly a recipe book)
Also, there are several free resources - you can find the list here: How To Keto
I hope this helps!

Hi Martina, I have hypothyroid and my TSH levels are way above normal. I tried your diet and week 1 I actually gained 3 pounds. I followed it strictly. Can you suggest what I ma doing wrong? Should I add in a little bit of carbs? I am a vegetarian. Please advise.

Hi Divya, there could be a few reasons for that. I personally follow a low-carb, mildly ketogenic diet and I'm maintaining a healthy weight (also hypothyroid). Here are some tips that might help: How To Low Carb: 15+ Common Weight Loss Mistakes And here is a sample diet plan for vegetarian keto: 2 Week Vegetarian Keto Diet Plan

Greetings, As I do not own an iPad rather a RCA tablet, would the KetoDiet iPad App work on this device?

Reply

Hi Zach, if that's Android, it's our next step. We have a Basic Android version (doesn't include the planner) and we are working on the fully featured KetoDiet App for Android.

I've got your iPad app and can't wait for the iPhone version that will have the planner! I also pre-ordered your cookbooks and use your keto calculator all the time. Thank you for all you do 😊

How awesome is that? It's an awesome collection and I still can't wait for the paper version. I was even the first to review it which never happens to me either! So congrats on your book and nice work! 👏👏👏👏👏
