Ingredients (makes 16 slices)

In this recipe, I used dark chocolate because it's low in sugar. If you prefer to use unsweetened chocolate, remember to add extra sweetener.

  1. Mix the brown sugar substitute (I used Sukrin Gold) and cinnamon. Chocolate Dipped Candied Bacon
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or baking mat. Lay the bacon strips next to each other. Sprinkle with half of the sweetener & cinnamon mix. If you cannot fit the bacon into one tray, use two like I did. Flip the bacon strips on the other side and sprinkle with the remaining mix. Place in the oven preheated to 135 °C/ 275 °F and bake for 60-75 minutes or until crisp and caramelised. Chocolate Dipped Candied Bacon
  3. Meanwhile, melt the dark chocolate and cocoa butter. Chocolate Dipped Candied Bacon
  4. Once melted, add the maple extract. Set aside to cool down to room temperature. Chocolate Dipped Candied Bacon
  5. Remove the candied bacon from the oven and let it cool down completely before dipping in the chocolate. Dip half of each candied bacon strip in the chocolate or use a spoon to do it. Place on a tray lined with parchment paper and let the chocolate solidify at room temperature or in the fridge. Chocolate Dipped Candied Bacon

I changed the way I ate in 2011, when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid. I had no energy, and I found it more and more difficult to maintain a healthy weight.

That’s when I decided to quit sugar, grains, and processed foods, and to start following a whole-foods-based ketogenic approach to food.

Thank you, I have been looking for new Keto Diet recipes.

Looks awesome! How long do they keep in the fridge?

I would keep mine for up to a week - if they lasted this long without being eaten! 😊

Good day, I cannot find a Brown Sugar substitute in South Africa. What else can I use? Thanks, Maryka

Hi Maryka, you can use Erythritol instead (not sure if you can find it in SA) - see the list of ingredients.

I love it! Will definitely try it - thanks!

Thank you!

I need this in my life...
