Low-Carb Chargrilled Broccolini

I probably should tell you this, but this recipe combines two foods that I’ve never been a fan of. My husband and son really like broccolini, but eating it steamed has always left me feeling unimpressed. And, try as I might, I’ve never been able to love tahini, it’s just weird tasting, lol. BUT. ...

Pate. That smooth flavourful dollop of lovely. I’ve always loved pate, as a small child when my parents were entertaining, I would sneak into the trays that my mother had laid out for guests and help myself. Sorry Mum! This pate is so easy to make yet packs a punch in the flavour stakes. Make it ...

Low-Carb Broccoli Cake

I’m a bit anxious about this one people. Not because I worry about how it will turn out, I know how amazing it is. Low-Carb Summer Berry Galette

This delicious galette came about after I saw a stunning stone fruits galette on the cover of a food magazine. Liver. I get it, it’s a bit scary to eat, isn’t it? We all love pate, but just liver? By itself? Okay, I’m here to hold your hand and we can do this together. This dish uses smoky bacon and savoury herbs to balance and enhance the liver, resulting in a delicious gravy. Don’t be scared. Trust m ...

Low-Carb Hot Cross Buns

Easter is nearly here. You know what that means, don’t you? Hot. Cross. Buns. EVERYWHERE. I used to love Hot Cross Buns and would have quite happily given up the chocolate eggs for extra buns, back in the day. I had a friend mention to me recently that she was eating one and I was overwhelmed wit ...

Homemade Low-Carb Zucchini Pickles

This pickle recipe was originally given to me by my very good friend, when she gave us a jar and we devoured it in the space of a few days. Clearly, she had no intention of being a slave to our pickle passion! These pickles are crunchy, tangy, a bit sweet and have a lovely spiced undertone. They ...

Low-Carb Cheese & Capsicum Stuffed Meatloaf

This meatloaf brings my childhood flooding back with each bite. My Dad used to make it for us and I can recall thinking that it was incredibly fancy to have all that gooey melted cheese hidden inside a lush meatloaf. Yep, I was pretty easily impressed. Come to think of it, I’m still impressed if ...

Keto Brown Butter Pecan Ice Cream

This is now known as “the ice cream that nearly broke me” in my family. I love ice cream but it’s got to be creamy and smooth. I find that low carb ice creams can easily become icy or just not quite right as far as the texture goes. I know that using egg yolks helps with the creaminess and stabili ...

Homemade Labneh Cheese

I love labne, or labneh, depending on how you choose to spell it. There’s just something so cool about taking a tub of yoghurt, straining it and ending up with a smooth, creamy, tangy spread that can be spooned onto or into so many things. You can flavour the finished labne in any way that you ch ...

Low-Carb Cilantro Pesto

Cilantro. There, I’ve said it. Now I’ll just sit back and wait for the two opposing sides to battle it out. I get it, if you’re one of those people genetically hardwired to not like cilantro, it tastes like soap to you. This is probably not the recipe for you. But to me? Cilantro is fresh and pepp ...

Low-Carb Lemon Myrtle Shortbread

I’ve been playing around with native Australian ingredients lately. I’m amazed at the diversity and range of native spices that I can access that I never knew existed. If you can get your hands on some, try them out for yourselves, it’s a lot of fun! Lemon Myrtle has a fresh lemon and herb flavour. ...

Homemade Pink Sauerkraut

I’ve been trying to get more fermented foods into my daily diet. I brew my own kombucha and love that, but I’d really like to branch out into different types of fermentation. Sauerkraut is a brilliant beginners ferment and the addition of grated beetroot in this one gives it such a pretty, jewel-li ...

Low-Carb Golden Crumbed Cauliflower

I love cauliflower. Any cauliflower. In fact, when I was young we lived quite a distance from the market and it was not unheard of for little ole me to snack away on my poor mother’s freshly purchased cauliflower head during the car ride home. I still adore raw cauliflower, but this yummy “crumbed” ...

Keto Tomato & Goat's Cheese Quiche

Is it a quiche? Is it a tart? Is it a pizza flavoured cheesecake? It’s all of those, and yet a dish all on its own. I make this on a regular basis as a quick and impressive lunch or picnic plate. The crispy crust against the smooth and creamy filling is delicious and sturdy enough to eat with your ...
