Being able to make a small batch of chia jam in a short amount of time means that you can be a bit creative with your flavours. The addition of balsamic vinegar gives ...

Low-Carb Pickled Blueberries

Pickled blueberries. Yep, I’m just going to leave that sitting there while you turn your head on its side and say “Huh?” I hear you. I’d never even thought of picking fruits until I did a homemade Christmas gifts workshop last year and made a bottle of pickled cherries. Now, I’m seeing pickled cherr ...

Keto Raspberry Meringue Pots

This keto recipe was inspired by our Low-Carb Raspberry Meringue Pie. I love a good pie, and that is one goood pie! But I also love pretty little glasses of desert, which have the added bonus of built-in portion control. It may seem like these are small servings, but this is so lush and sweet that y ...

The Creamiest Low-Carb Vegetable Soup

As the weather gets colder (we had our first minor frost recently) I like to make up a big pot of soup each week. This keto recipe is a crowd pleaser which means the whole family will enjoy it even if they don't follow a keto diet. Unlike creamy high-carb favourites like potato soup or lentil soup, ...

Low-Carb Chargrilled Broccolini

I probably should tell you this, but this recipe combines two foods that I’ve never been a fan of. My husband and son really like broccolini, but eating it steamed has always left me feeling unimpressed. And, try as I might, I’ve never been able to love tahini, it’s just weird tasting, lol. BUT. Fir ...

Keto Chicken & Bacon Pâté

Pate. That smooth flavourful dollop of lovely. I’ve always loved pate, as a small child when my parents were entertaining, I would sneak into the trays that my mother had laid out for guests and help myself. Sorry Mum! This pate is so easy to make yet packs a punch in the flavour stakes. Make it for ...

Low-Carb Broccoli Cake

I’m a bit anxious about this one people. Not because I worry about how it will turn out, I know how amazing it is. But because it’s based on a famous Yotam Ottolenghi recipe and I feel like I just finger painted on a masterpiece. Anyway. I first saw the recipe for Yotham’s Cauliflower Cake when a fr ...

Low-Carb Summer Berry Galette

This delicious galette came about after I saw a stunning stone fruits galette on the cover of a food magazine. I pondered it for a while, feeling a bit put out that I couldn’t make one because it looked so darn pretty. Suddenly it occurred to me that it might be possible to make a sweet Fat Head dou ...

Pan Seared Liver with Smoked Bacon

Liver. I get it, it’s a bit scary to eat, isn’t it? We all love pate, but just liver? By itself? Okay, I’m here to hold your hand and we can do this together. This dish uses smoky bacon and savoury herbs to balance and enhance the liver, resulting in a delicious gravy. Don’t be scared. Trust me. Enj ...

Low-Carb Hot Cross Buns

Easter is nearly here. You know what that means, don’t you? Hot. Cross. Buns. EVERYWHERE. I used to love Hot Cross Buns and would have quite happily given up the chocolate eggs for extra buns, back in the day. I had a friend mention to me recently that she was eating one and I was overwhelmed with s ...

Low-Carb Pickled Radishes

These pickled radishes are the perfect combination of sweet and tangy. Put them on the side of just about any meal to bring a touch of pretty crunch to the dish. And seriously, put the jar in the middle of the table because how perfectly pretty are these? Enjoy! Preparation time: Hands-on: 10 minute ...

Keto Mocha Crème Brûlée

Close your eyes. Imagine the sound of that crack as the spoon breaks through the crispy toffee shell of a good brûlée. Such a pity that you can’t have that now that you’re low carb, huh? Guess again! This brûlée features a thin a crispy shell lovingly covering a rich and creamy custard of decadent c ...

Keto Raspberry & Cream Jellies

As you may know, I suffer from a compromised immune system and gut health is crucial for my day to day health and quality of life. I try to take both collagen and gelatin each day as part of my supplemental routine. Why gelatin, you ask? Gelatin is a brilliant source of protein and amino acids. It h ...

Homemade Low-Carb Zucchini Pickles

This pickle recipe was originally given to me by my very good friend, when she gave us a jar and we devoured it in the space of a few days. Clearly, she had no intention of being a slave to our pickle passion! These pickles are crunchy, tangy, a bit sweet and have a lovely spiced undertone. They are ...

Low-Carb Cheese & Capsicum Stuffed Meatloaf

This meatloaf brings my childhood flooding back with each bite. My Dad used to make it for us and I can recall thinking that it was incredibly fancy to have all that gooey melted cheese hidden inside a lush meatloaf. Yep, I was pretty easily impressed. Come to think of it, I’m still impressed if you ...

Keto Brown Butter Pecan Ice Cream

This is now known as “the ice cream that nearly broke me” in my family. I love ice cream but it’s got to be creamy and smooth. I find that low carb ice creams can easily become icy or just not quite right as far as the texture goes. I know that using egg yolks helps with the creaminess and stability ...

Homemade Labneh Cheese

I love labne, or labneh, depending on how you choose to spell it. There’s just something so cool about taking a tub of yoghurt, straining it and ending up with a smooth, creamy, tangy spread that can be spooned onto or into so many things. You can flavour the finished labne in any way that you choos ...

Keto Lavender Panna Cotta

Panna Cotta literally means “set cream” so it’s the perfect low carb dessert! And there is something so special about that beautifully textured and lush first spoonful. You could flavor this with so many different things but lavender is such a lovely ingredient to use and it tastes amazing. This lus ...

Low-Carb Cilantro Pesto

Cilantro. There, I’ve said it. Now I’ll just sit back and wait for the two opposing sides to battle it out. I get it, if you’re one of those people genetically hardwired to not like cilantro, it tastes like soap to you. This is probably not the recipe for you. But to me? Cilantro is fresh and pepper ...
