A classic Bloody Mary cocktail never gets old! This is the more classic way although there are a few variations that may include lime instead of lemon juice, prepared horseradish, smoked paprika and parsley leaves for garnish.
Don't drink alcohol? This cocktail is just as delicious with or without the vodka so feel free to omit it. In fact, Virgin Bloody Mary is a great cocktail to serve on a hot summer morning!

Ingredients (makes 1 serving)
- 1/2 cup tomato juice (120 ml/ 4 fl oz)
- 60 ml vodka (2 fl oz)
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice (15 ml)
- 2 to 3 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
- dash of tabasco
- pinch of black pepper
- ice cubes, to taste
- good pinch of celery salt
- Optional: 1/4 to 1/2 tsp prepared horseradish
- To serve: celery stalk, olives, lime and/or lemon wedges, celery or parsley leaves
Instructions
- Place the tomato juice, vodka, lemon juice, 2 to 3 dashes of Worcestershire sauce, dash of tabasco and black pepper in a cocktail shaker. Optionally add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of prepared horseradish. Add a few ice cubes and shake until well combined and the outside of the shaker has frosted.
- Sprinkle some celery salt (or sea salt) on a plate. Cut a wedge of lemon (or lime) and rub it around the edge of a highball glass, then turn the glass upside down and dip into salt so that the salt coats the rim. Set aside while you make the cocktail.
- Pour in the glass filled with more ice and garnish with olives, celery stalk, lemon (or lime) wedge and celery (or parsley) leaves.
