Smoothies are a convenient and delicious meal that is perfect for when you don't have time to cook. I used blackberries that are not only tasty but also very low in carbs - in fact, they contain less carbs than blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. I live in the UK where blackberries are now in season and I have already picked over 10 pounds and keep them in the freezer. That's loads of frozen shakes, mug cakes and berry tarts for the rest of the year :-)

Tips for a dairy-free option: Use "creamed" coconut milk + pinch of salt instead of the cream cheese AND almond milk or more coconut milk instead of the heavy whipping cream. To “cream” the coconut milk, simply place the can in the fridge overnight. Next day, open, spoon out the solidified coconut milk and discard the liquids. Do not shake before opening the can. One 400 gram can will yield about 200 grams of coconut cream.

I changed the way I ate in 2011, when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid. I had no energy, and I found it more and more difficult to maintain a healthy weight.

That’s when I decided to quit sugar, grains, and processed foods, and to start following a whole-foods-based ketogenic approach to food.

I was wondering how your Hashimoto's was going while you're on the keto diet I have the same problem and I'm just getting ready to start and I'm really hoping it helps my thyroid disease.

Hi Kim, it's going great! I've been low-carb since 2011 and I am not planning to stop. There are some considerations for Hashi's patients: Are Keto and Low Carb Diets Suitable for People with Thyroid Disease?

What is the serving size? When I entered it into my Carb Manager app  it says it is 7 net carbs

Hi Alison, this is a common issue with many apps and websites. The reason is that most apps and websites use crowdsourcing to build their food databases and there isn't much they do to prevent errors. Their priority is quantity rather than quality. As a result, you may end up with missing or inaccurate macros. I explained more about what we do in our app to prevent this in this post: Barcode Scanning and Food Database in the KetoDiet App
We use verified sources so our calculations are accurate in our app and my books. I hope this helps!

Hi Clara, you can find all of the recipes I share on my blog in our app (ketodietapp.com/) in the KetoDiet blog tab. You can "clone" any of these recipes in the Custom Meals tab and change/add/remove ingredients to see an instant change in nutrition fact. I hope this helps!

Hi
I have a question that have been bothering me for some time and was not able to find a good answer, is it right that eating cheese make you forget ? I'm a bit worried because I'm a student on keto and I love cheese.
Thanks

Hi Bedour, this is the first time I've heard of this and I don't believe it's true.  Here's more about dairy: Dairy on a Ketogenic Diet: Eat or Avoid?

I really love this smoothie.  I could have it all day long except not enough protein.  The only thing I don't like is the seeds but know need them to keep carbs down. Have tired it with strawberries and didn't like it was well.  Haven't tried blueberries or raspberries.

I know what you mean. You could blend the blackberries first and use a fine-mesh sieve to remove the seeds?

This smoothie is awesome. I have been making it to drink at work. I decided to try it with the creamed coconut milk vs cream cheese and accidentally put my coconut milk can in the fridge upside down. Well, I carefully turned the can over and opened the top since the can opener will not work on the bottom rim. When opened, All of the cream stayed on the bottom and I poured out the liquid easily! I was amazed! Thanks for all your great recipes! You are brilliant!

Cool! I realised this once by accident too and I've been turning the can upside down ever since 😊 Glad you like it!

Just come back from walking the dog with a bag of blackberries. 30 mins from bush to smoothie. Amazingly yummy, wonderful recipe. Thank you.

Thank you!! I've got one freezer drawer that is for blackberries only! 😊)

This has become a favorite for me. It is so easy to make and versatile.  Sometimes I add protein powder and I often omit the oil depending on how much fat I have had for the day.  It is always yummy.

Thank you Tara, glad you like it! 😊

If you heat the mix (hot not boiling) in the microwave before blending and add a packet of gelatine then pour into a dish and refrigerate.
Makes for an amazing jelly/jello type dessert.

Sounds amazing! Thanks for the delicious tip!
