Hi friends, happy World Book Day!

I have super exciting news for you. My brand new book The New Mediterranean Diet Cookbook is about to be published in less than four weeks! I can't describe how excited I feel about this project. This is THE cookbook I've always wanted to write.

Those of you who have been following me for some time know that I love Mediterranean cuisine and I love using fish, seafood and olive oil in most of the meals I cook. I truly believe that this is the best way to follow the keto diet and I've been following the Medi Keto approach myself for years.

The New Mediterranean Diet Cookbook is coming out in March-April 2021 and it's available to preorder in most major bookstores!

This Time I Wasn't Alone

The The New Mediterranean Diet Cookbook is a collaboration of four authors. I've worked on this book with my friends and colleagues Dr Nicholas Norwitz, fitness expert Thomas DeLauer and professional chef Rohan Kashid.

Nick's expertise is in ketosis and brain aging; however, he has published scientific papers on topics ranging from neuroscience to heart disease to gastrointestinal health to genetics to bone health to diabetes. He's the mastermind behind the science in this book!

This project wouldn't be possible without the help of my good friend and talented photographer Jo Harding who took some of the most beautiful photos for this book. I love you Jo!

Thank you so much Alex! This is actually a feature we plan to add but it's a bit more involved. Since I can't add the whole recipe (copyright limitations), I can only use the nutrition facts. This will affect the Planner and Recipes sections so it will take quite a bit of coding, and then adding over 1000 recipes (all of my books) manually. It's in the pipeline! 😉

Thank you so much! And yes, most recipes are paleo approved too as they don't use dairy (or in most cases have dairy-free alternatives). Some recipes use dairy without substitutions but that's not going to be more than 10% of all recipes.

We do! Macadamias are actually one of the 7 High-Fat Superfoods in this book which means we use them in many recipes 😊

I know there is a book (I reviewed it on my blog a few years back) although our approach is unique as it combines keto with the Mediterranean diet, plus it uses science to evolve this approach further for high nutrient density and healthier fat profile. We have a whole chapter that explains our approach in detail.

Don’t Mediterranean diets usually have lots of whole grains? Isn’t that carbs? What about fruits

That's right! The traditional Mediterranean diet as we know it is high in carbs due to foods like bread, potatoes, pizza, pasta and fruits. In our approach we are using some of the principles of the Mediterranean diet (focus on healthy fats like olive oil, non-starchy vegetables, fish and seafood) with the ketogenic approach which allows us to keep the carbs low. Every single recipe in this book is keto-approved and has been optimised for maximum health benefits.

Do all the recipes really have omega6-3 values?! I’ve never seen that. How did you possible manage that!?

They do! To be more precise we have Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratios in recipes that contain Omega 3s. In all recipes we are keeping Omega 6 fatty acids low. Sometimes when a recipe has mostly monounsaturated (MUFA) or saturated (SFA) fats we just list the amount of Omega 6 fats in grams.

Are there a lot of recipes that do not include fish. As someone with a seafood allergy I am always looking for cookbooks that don’t include a lot of fish and shellfish recipes and am disappointed most of the time because the recipes are mostly fish and shellfish

Hi Jeana, this is a Mediterranean Keto cookbook so there are many fish & seafood recipes. I don't know the exact count but I'd say 30% of all recipes contain fish or seafood.
