Autumn is here and it's the best time for pumpkin recipes. So what is it that gives pumpkin treats their characteristic taste? Although pumpkin itself adds a subtle sweetness and helps maintain a soft texture, it's the spices that make pumpkin treats so irresistible. I like making my own blend so I can choose the spices and flavours I like.

Macronutrient ratio: Calories from carbs (78%), protein (13%), fat (9%)
Ingredients (makes ~ ½ cup):
- ¼ cup cinnamon (4 tbsp)
- 2 tbsp ground ginger
- 2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp ground allspice
- Optional but highly recommended: ½ tsp ground cardamom + ½ tsp ground mace
Mix all the ingredients and place in an airtight container. Use as needed - that's it!
