Swerve Review & Giveaway!

|Swerve Review & Giveaway!

This week I'd like to share my thoughts on Swerve, an exciting low-carb sweetener, which you may have spotted amongst the prizes in the 30-Day KetoDiet Challenge.

Disclaimer: Swerve has been provided to me for the purpose of this review as a free sample. This has not influenced my review and the opinions expressed in this post are my own. Swerve is one of the sponsors in our KetoDiet Challenges.

Swerve is an excellent sugar replacement and one of the best low-carb sweeteners to use when you follow the ketogenic diet. It's as sweet as sugar so you won't need to use any conversion charts.

Another benefit or Swerve is that it has the ability to caramelise which makes it perfect for baking and making keto desserts.

Since it doesn't spike blood sugar and insulin and it's almost zero-calorie, Swerve is diabetes-friendly and perfect for weight loss. There are only two ingredients in Swerve, erythritol and oligosaccharides:

  • Erythritol is a sugar alcohol that is naturally found in fruits, vegetables and fermented foods. It has almost zero calories and doesn't affect blood sugar. In fact, 90% of Erythritol is absorbed before it enters the large intestine and is excreted via urine. Erythritol is 70% as sweet as sugar.
  • Oligosaccharides are simple sugars naturally found in many plants, including onions, asparagus, leeks, jicama or Jerusalem artichoke. Our body cannot fully digest oligosaccharides, and almost 90% passes through the small intestine into the large colon where it acts as a prebiotic. As a prebiotic, it feeds the gut bacteria that produce short-chain fatty acids and B-vitamins.

You can buy Swerve on Amazon or at SwerveSweetener.com

What is the difference between Stevia and Swerve?

Hi Denise, have a look at this post: ketodietapp.com/.../Top-10-Natural-Low-carb-Sweeteners

Reply

I love Swerve!  It's great to make any cooked item.

Reply

Would love to try the Swerve Confectioners sugar. I use the regular Swerve all of the time and love it.

Reply

I tried the swerve to bake zucchini bread and I was very pleased with the results, their was no aftertaste and that was even better. I have recently tried Pyure an organic stevia blend whenever I want to make lemonade and this is also very good and it does not leave an aftertaste as well.

Reply

I only use swerve

Reply

I use Stevia, but I'd like to try swerve. I've heard good things. I can't find it anywhere but online.

Reply

Erythritol is my favorite sweetener. I find it has the least amount of aftertaste compared to other products I've tried.
Thank you for sharing your recipes and information. I have referred to you blog often.

I just started using Serve a few months ago when I decided to eat a Keto-ish diet. I used it this year in my greens for Thanksgiving, my family didn't even notice a difference. This is my new sweetener, no more sugar!!

Having Hashimoto's and hypoglycemia, it's important I avoid white sugar as much as possible. I like Stevia for drinks/smoothies. But for baking, it never comes out right. I will love to try this Swerve product and see how it comes out for gluten-free baked goods.

Reply

I love stevia, and have started using swerve in many keto recipes!

Reply

I absolutely love Swerve and have used it successfully for making many, many low-carb chocolate mug cakes. For coffee, if I need a little sweetness in my cup I turn to my Torani sugar free syrups!

Reply

Swerve has been a lifesaver for me since I was diagnosed as a diabetic.  My body will not tolerate most artificial sweeteners, but swerve works for me.  I LOVE it and use it often.  After switching to a LCHF diet and finding swerve I have lost over 130 pounds in less than 2 years.  Thank you SWERVE for allowing me sweets again.

Reply

I currently use Truvia, but after reading the reviews I will be looking for this product.

Reply

I don't have a favourite sweetener.  Swerve sounds good..

Reply

I love Swerve! I used it to make our Thanksgiving desserts: Sour Cream Lemon Pie, and Chocolate Torte. My sweets-loving husband and son raved. I'm so glad I can now make health versions of their holiday favorites.

Reply

I use Stevia or Truvia. I will try Swerve.

Reply

Hi,
I haven't found the right sugar substitute for me yet. Therefore, I'd love to give Swerve a try.

Reply

Swerve powder has been used for fat bombs.  It works well.  I don't like it to sweeten chocolate because it has a gritty texture.

Reply

I have never tried Swerve but notice that it is used in a lot of the recipes I make. I would love to try it. Which do you find you use Mor - the granular or confectioners?

Reply

I love swerve been using it for a couple of years now

Reply

i would love to try this, i dont eat many sweets when it comes cookies cake etc.

Reply

In my daily cooking, I usually use two types of sweeteners: liquid stevia and powdered erithritol. I think it's the best choice from what's avaible here in Poland- I can both making desserts where I need something more like sugar tecsture, and when I need just sweet taste, I use liquid sweetener or sometimes sweetened aromats Smile

Reply

I love using this,  but it can be difficult to find in the UK

Reply

I think that the best is pure stevia (no chemichals only leaves)... but you should try everything, rightSmile

Reply

I would love to try this.

I have tried several different sweeteners and have found Seerve to be my favorite. I bought both the granular and confectioners versions. Love it!

Reply

Reply

I haven't tried swerve but have heard great reviews on it. My favorite sweetener so far has been Pyure.

Reply

Love Swerve!!!

Reply

I can't believe no one has mentioned a strange sensation on their tongue or in their throat. I really wanted to like Swerve, but within seconds of taking a bite of cake made with it, I "felt" it on my tongue and in my throat.

Reply

Thank you for the information about Swerve!  It is definitely my go-to sweetener for almost everything, but I wasn't sure what the ingredients were. Thank you for the clarification! Knowing it is made from plant-based natural ingredients makes me feel it is safe. My husband has health issues (diabetes, kidney disease, high blood pressure) and using this diet is healing him!

Reply

swerve is actually my favourite! however would love to try that brown sugar substitue you have talked about...

Reply

I currently use liquid Stevia.  I have heard good things about Swerve but I can't find it locally.  It would be great to find something I could use to bake with!  Most keto recipes use some form of granulated/powdered sweetener and I can't find one that doesn't contain non-keto approved additives.  I would really love to try it!

Reply

I have a massive sweet tooth for pastries, cookies, and cakes, but I don't like sugary tastes at all. Starting the Keto lifestyle?? I was worried how I would survive! The only sweetener I could tolerate was Zing, but very difficult to find where I live. Then I discovered Swerve! Better tasting, doesn't have that weird aftertaste, and comes in powdered form as well. Delicate taste, simply perfect.

Reply

I would love to try this, I have been low carb for a few months and am just venturing into attempting baking.

Reply

Might be worth a try. I use stevia in all forms.

Reply

My favorite low carb sweetener is Stevia in the raw.

Reply

I would love to try these! Smile

Reply

I use stevia or Swerve,it depends on the end products.

Reply

The only one I've actually tried is Swerve!   Well, I guess I've also tried liquid Stevia.   I love that Swerve is so like regular sugar -- so easy to use!

Reply

I love Swerve!  I had previously tried Stevia and found it had a weird aftertaste.  I haven't tried baking or dessert making with it yet but am excited to try!

Reply

I'm from Honduras and I cannot find swerve here, I used to replace swerve by stevia whenever a recipe called for it.
I got really curious and ordered a swerve package on amazon (it was really expensive for me, but absolutely worth it) I made double chocolate cupcakes, the ones with avocado, and it was delicious, so much better than common pastry. Swerve is now my favorite low-carb sweetener.
Since is really hard for me to get it, I´m saving it for christmas!
I hope it lasts for 3 - 4 other treats!

Reply

I use Swerve granular and confectioners whenever I bake!

Reply

I've been using erythritol, but am anxious to expand my horizons and try other options, including Swerve. Thank you for the opportunity to try to win your giveaway!

Reply

I definitely have a 'thing' for sugar... It sure would be good to have a healthier replacement for it that will still keep me from having hypoglycemic episodes.

Reply

I'd love to try swerve!

Reply

My favorite sweetener is Xylitol but I have always wanted to try Swerve.

Reply

For just drinking, then just 100% stevia.  For baking, I'm still trying a few to see what's my favorite.

Reply

I have both the granulated and confectiners style of Swerve and have made many of the delicious sweet fat bombs from your book using them. Great product!

Reply

I am eager to try Swerve - will be baking with Pyure for the first time tomorrow morning!

Reply

Swerve is my favorite,  actually. Reading and making your recipes, you refer to it so much that I had to try and I was blown away at the difference between it and other sweeteners I'd used. It really is fantastic.

Reply

My favorite sweetener thus far is stevia liquid. But it is super hard to measure the correct amount from the squeeze bottles. I like to put mine in a clean dropper bottle so I can measure exactly how much I want. Too much stevia and the taste is awful!

Reply

I use Swerve and Pyure. Great tasting.

Reply

I usually use Stevia for most things but for baking I use a combo of Erythritrol

Reply

I want to try swerve, but can't find it at Sprouts in Arizona??

Reply

My favorite low-carb sweetener is actually Splenda, since I grew up using it! After hearing about the experiment where Splenda was found to cause cancer in rats(!), I've been on the lookout for something new. I've tried stevia, but I didn't like the bitter aftertaste. I would love to try erythritol or Swerve!

Reply

I love Swerve! Especially the powdered version--perfect for frosting!
I also use straight erythritol for everyday baking, but have also used
granulated Swerve for baking--it's perfect, cup for cup!

Reply

Just used the last of my Swerve Confectioners yesterday. It is my go to!

Reply

I LOVE granulated Swerve but have not yet had the chance to try the confection variety.  Can't wait!!!!

Reply

I make my own mix of Stevia, xylitol and erythritol to save funds since we live on a limited income. I would definitely love to try a prepackaged blend.

Reply

I'll try swerve but my fave is stevia

Reply

I love Swerve for baking! I previously used
Stevia but noticed a slight after taste. Not with
Swerve! It tastes like sugar in baking!

Reply

I have only tried Stevia. While I haven't always loved it I have learned that when I control the amount used it's much more palatable. Thanks for reviewing swerve! I've seen it but wasn't sure about trying it. Now I will!

Reply

I use erythritol/ monk blend, and erythritol/ stevia blend that i can get at the Bulk Barn

Reply

Never used this sweetner although I have used and do like erythiol. I usually use splenda because it is readily available.

Reply

I have been wanting to try this. I normally use Splenda.

Reply

I have used Swerve for several years now for baking, hot cocoa, whipped cream, and even in my Austrian red cabbage salad. It never raises my blood sugar and I find that it is very sweet to me so I use less than a recipe usually calls for.  Swerve does not leave me with any aftertaste at all. I even make a great condensed milk and caramel with Swerve and coconut milk. I really like Swerve especially the powdered form because it blends so much easier.

Reply

Just joined giveaway!  Love your app!

Reply

I love Swerve! I've made a pumpkin cheesecake pie for tomorrow (thanks, Martina!) and I dusted those keto pumpkin snickerdoodles with it too! I ordered some Sukrin also to try it out!

Reply

stevia drops are my fave but need a powdered option very excited to hear of the swerve option!!

Reply

I have been using stevia but am not to pleased with the aftertaste so would be keen to try Swerve.

Reply

This is my favorite product of all time and made keto doable. I occasionally mix it with xylitol if I do not want a cooling aftertaste, but by far, SWERVE rocks! I keep it in a 5 pound jar!

Reply

I have never used Swerve although I have been looking for it. I have wanted to find it. I use stevia sweetener for now.

Reply

Sweetness...Thankful for a chance!!

Reply

pick me!

Reply

Love Swerve, and especially a great confectioners option!

Reply

I love Swerve. I've used it in everything from cookies to coleslaw and it's awesome. I've only ever found it at one store, and when I ran out they were relocating, so I was without Swerve for a while and tried Xyla. It's okay, but I really prefer Swerve.

Reply

Love swerve

Reply

My go to sweetner...Keto on~!!

Reply

Unfortunately we do not have swerve in Thailand..
And shipping. Cost plus tax makes it non viable to buy.
We have to use stevia in the raw powder ( which actually is a blend.
And only now found stevia drops ( just plain)..
We make do and no complaints but it would be great it more Keto products came into Thailand .but no matter what part of the world we live in we can modify our habits for a Keto life style..
Keto on guys

Reply

I honestly do really love Swerve. Stevia can be difficult because it has a bit of a funny after-taste or is a liquid, and Trucia has stuff in it (sugar) I don't love - especially for eating Keto. Plus I find Truvia works really well in baking AND I love that there is a confectioner's sugar option. Sugar alternatives still make me a bit nervous (re: naturalness) but Swerve has actually helped me get over that!

Reply

Right now my favorite is the Truvia brown sugar. But I have really wanted to try Swerve!!!

Reply

Swerve has the best tasting powdered sweetener
It is the only one I buy to replace powdered sugar
I use it on low carb crepes, waffles, pancakes

Reply

Would love to try this sweetener ❤️️

Reply

I've been on keto for over a year and have never used swerve despite hearing good things about it. I'd definitely be interested in trying it out and seeing what kind of recipes would open up to me.

Reply

I like Stevia, but it isn't the nicest to bake with. It would be nice to try Swerve & see if it is great!

Reply

I really like SweetDrops but have yet to try a granular sweetener. Swerve will now be the one I try first!

Reply

My new favorite is Swerve.  I only recently heard about it and finally convinced myself to try it.  Could not tell the difference from sugar.

Reply

Will def be trying this! Thanks!

Reply

Thanks for the review and explanation of how our bodies process Swerve. I had thought the only keto-friendly sweetener was Stevia, but sometimes I don't like the taste. I'm looking forward to trying Swerve!

Reply

swerve would be my favorite

Reply

I have not tried Swerve yet, I had never heard of it until I entered the low carb world. I used to be a splenda girl and currently I am using stevia.

This stuff is magical.

Reply

Thanks for the opportunity to win the Swerve sweetner.

Reply

I generally use Erythritol with a little bit of powedered Stevia, which seems to have less of an aftertaste than liquid.  I'm interested to try Swerve, though, as I don't like even Erythritol in large quantities (aftertaste again) so this might be better?

Reply

Interested in trying this.

Reply

I have used it and although I like it, I still experience an aftertaste

Reply

I just bought swerve today. I will let you know!

Reply

I've not seen Swerve where I shop, but will check in to it.  A bit concerned about after taste.  I do use Stevia (sweet leaf) and like it.  If I find Swerve I will probably give it a shot.

Reply

Swerve for baking, but Xyla in my coffee. Smile

Reply

I was skeptical about how good Swerve would taste, but I needed something SWEET and I can't stand the taste of TOO much stevia, so I decided to give it a try. I sent my bf to whole foods to buy both granulated and confectioner's swerve. Verdict: I loved it! I made some Mocha Ice Bombs (google it, they're amazing) which called for the confectioner's swerve and it hit the spot. I even served it to some guests that said it was very good. They did mention that it left an aftertaste in their throat which clued them in on the fact it wasn't really sugar, but it wasn't bad. (I also mentioned that it wasn't real sugar, so they may have been hyper sensitive to taste?) I myself didn't notice any aftertaste, but it could also be because I haven't eaten sugar in so long. Bottom line is, I definitely recommend this as a sugar substitute, especially because it can be substituted cup for cup in recipes. Yes, please!

Reply

Would love to try it.

Reply

My favorite sweetener so far is XyloSweet.  I'd love to try Swerve though! I hear so many good things but it's hard to find in my area. Thanks for having the giveaway!

I use mainly stevia and that is mainly all I can get without ordering, though I do like NuNaturals too!

Reply

I haven't been using anything other than splenda packets once in a while. Sweets were never my thing. I'd love to try swerve, though, because I do miss the sweet in some dinner recipes!

Reply

I have been looking for a sweetner besides Splenda or Stevia. I love to bake and am excited to try Swerve. They don't sell it at my local grocery stores.

I alternate between Swerve and Sukrin -- neither one spikes my blood sugar.

Reply

Swerve by far is the BEST LC sweetener out there. Bake with it and love it!

Reply

Trying to get hold of sukrin gold but seems to be out of stock everywhere but would love to try swerve confectioners especially for Christmas sweets and cookies

Reply

Not being able to purchase Swerve in Australia, I have resorted to get pure erythritol posted from America. We are all as sugar free as we can be in this home and that solved my husbands carpal tunneland reduced my MS fatigue. Swerve is a product I would love to try.

Reply

I've never tried Swerve before! I can't find it in the store but saw it on Amazon. Can't wait to try!

Reply

Being in Australia, we don't have Swerve here but I do enjoy using the equivalent which is similar; a blend of stevia and erythritol granulated called Natvia.  I am using less and less of it these days as my taste buds have acclimatized to not having the sweet taste, but it's great to have on hand for small amounts in cooking and baking.  I'd love to try the Swerve blend but Amazon wouldn't send to Aus ;) Smile

Swerve is my favorite.  I use it all of the time.

It's a tie between Swerve and NuNaturals. For granulated/confectioner's style, I gotta give it to Swerve. It mixes well, bakes perfectly, and tastes amazing. For liquid sweeteners (I used the flavored ones in my iced coffee or ACV drinks), NuNaturals is best.

Reply

I use erythritol, stevia and a blend of them, and I'm really curious how Swerve is.

I have never tried Swerve because I can't find it here in Norway. I usually use erythritol, but started recently to taste the "cold, icing" aftertaste. I don't like stevia alone, and recently tried sukrin blend 1:1, erythritol and stevia. It seems ok so far. I also use Tagatesse sometimes, a tagatose-inulin and other "stuff" blend, but I am not sure about the effects on blood sugar. I would really love to try Swerve.

I do wish Swerve was easier to come by here in NZ, good sweeteners are so hard to come by.

I have just been using plain stevie, but I would really like to try Swerve. The reviews are all very positive and inspiring!

My favourite so far is Xylitol. I don't use it very much, but I find it doesn't have a weird aftertaste and I can use just a little.
I recently bought some stevia from Holland & Barrett, and after using it in a cup of coffee, quickly remembered why I stopped using Truvia. It has a really strong aftertaste, so I think I will only use it for baking.
Lots of keto bloggers in the US mention Swerve, so I'm all up for trying it.

Stevia and Erythritol, so Swerve is perfect!

I have not used this yet, but bought a bag.  I've been using Stevia.

Swerve us a the GO TO for baking, but I still really like Stevia too! But with the sweet-tooth I have Keto wouldn't have been doable if it hadn't have been for Swerve!

I'd love a natural alternative to stevia!

I have only tried Stevia but I would love to try this!

I have never tried swerve, we don't have it in Canada. I was in the states the other day but was unable to find it. Would love to try.

I simply LOVE swerve, I have been low curbing for  almost 8 years and have been using swerve ever since it became available!!
It can't be beat in every recipe, every drink and their powdered version opens up so many more options for everyone going sugar free!

Having trouble finding Swerve. Would love to try it as I dislike the aftertaste of Stevia.

Have not tried this yet would love to win some.

I love using Just Like Sugar. Occasionally I'll use a sucralose. As much as I want to like Stevie, I've discovered I'm allergic to it (migraines, bloated, digestive issues). I'm happy there are alternatives.

I love it and the best part is my family likes it too.

My freshly whipped cream came out nice using the Confectioner's Swerve!

Stevia is the one I am most familiar with other than sugar!

I use Erythritol, I have tried xylitol but not as much of a fan.  Dislike Stevia on its own.

I like regular swerve the best - it doesn't seem to have that "cooling" effect that some sweeteners have, and I don't get any bitterness from it. I've not tried the powdered yet, but it's in my pantry ready for Christmas recipes!

Swerve for the win!

Swerve is pretty much my favorite thing! I've tried other sweeteners but this one takes the cake ;)

I recently started using Swerve, and love it so far

I love erythritol for baking, nothing else can give quite the same texture as sugar. For day to day tea etc, I use liquid sucralose as it doesn't knock me out of ketosis

My favorite sweetener is Swerve!

I love Swerve! I could really use this win right now for the holidays Smile

Swerve is the best. I use it for all my keto desserts.

I love swerve so much but the stores around here are always out of stock! It's been perfect in any recipe I've used so far though, highly recommended!

I have just started using Swerve and love it. I've always been against artificial sweetners and am happy to find this product.

I love both Granular and Confectioners and use both daily.  If I had to pick, I would go for the Confectioners. Since I have removed sugar from our diet over a year ago, Swerve has been my go to product. I no longer purchase products that contain sugar or hidden sugars.  As an example, I do not purchase yogurt anymore. I take sour cream and add some vanilla paste and my SWERVE CONFECTIONERS and mix blueberries and strawberries for a quick and tasty treat.  My son with special needs takes that treat to school daily.  Now, parents of his classmates are doing the same for their children.  Spreading the love and good health to everyone is our motto! Cheers to Swerve for creating these wonderful and healthy products!!!
