Hi Friends, I have great news for you!

With our major update in August, we've made KetoDiet available on Android! All major features of the iOS version are supported on Android devices, including planning & tracking features.

Our next milestone was to provide an upgrade path for KetoDiet Basic on Android and I'm happy to announce that you can now enable all the advanced features without having to buy KetoDiet.

What are the Advanced Features in KetoDiet Basic?

Tracking, Planning & Monitoring

Planning and tracking your diet, monitoring your progress, creating custom meals, custom ingredients, searching through restaurant meals, etc.

Integrated Keto Calculator

Our Keto Calculator is fully integrated into the planner to help you calculate your ideal macros based on your goals and help you stay on track.

New Upgrade Path for KetoDiet Basic (Android)

How Much Does the Upgrade Cost?

To enable the advanced features in KetoDiet Basic, you have to make a one-off purchase. We always aim to charge a fair price. The cost of the upgrade reflects the difference between the price of KetoDiet (fully featured app) and KetoDiet Basic, plus a small fee of $1 USD to reflect the work we've done to make KetoDiet Basic upgradable.

What if I don't want to enable the advanced features?

Let's make this clear: you don't have to upgrade. We know it's a popular request by KetoDiet Basic users to be able to enable them. For that reason, we made this option easily accessible on the Settings screen.

What's Next?

1. Data Sync for Android

We are currently testing data sync for Android. It took us a bit longer but we want to make absolutely sure we get it right. You will soon be able to sync data across multiple devices and platforms. What this means is that if you, for example, have an Android phone and an iPad, you will be able to sync data between them.

2. Barcode Scanning (iOS and Android)

Barcode scanning will soon go to beta testing and will be released in a few weeks.

To see a preview of barcode scanning, check out this sneak peek video on Instagram.

3. Enhanced Planner (iOS and Android)

We enhanced the Planner and day stats so you can quickly see if you're meeting your daily macros.

To see a preview of our enhanced Planner, check out this sneak peek video on Instagram.

Our To-Do List (iOS and Android)

  • More free recipes and articles. We will keep adding even more free recipes and articles more frequently via our fully integrated blog!
  • Copy & paste planner meals for quick planning (Android)
  • Adding "favorites" to the Planner so you can quickly add frequently used meals
  • Universal search across all recipes when adding them to the Planner (blog meals, KetoDiet meals, custom meals, etc)
  • Adding new restaurant chains to our database to quickly find keto-friendly options when eating out
  • Adding new meals into the Starter pack and existing optional recipe packages (once you get any package, any recipes added in the future are always free!)
  • Data export, especially progress stats
  • Apple Watch support
  • Activity tracking & Health App integration
  • Ketone tracking, glucose tracking, and more tracking options
  • Integration with KetoDiet meal plans (free and premium 7-day, 14-day and 28-day diet plans directly in the Planner with just one click)
  • KetoDiet Challenges & community integration
  • Add recipe user notes in custom meals so that you have all you need to make your favourite recipe
  • New recipe packages - favorite recipes requested by our users
  • Add nutrition facts to hundreds of recipes included in my cookbooks so you can quickly add them to the Planner
  • Multi-user account support with data sync and fast user switching. This feature will be free for the first account. Any additional accounts will be available to buy for 0.99 USD per month to cover the cost of processing and storing the additional data on our servers.

The features are driven by your feedback! Feel free to leave a comment if you have anything else you would like us to add and if it's something we can do, we'll do our best to implement it in future updates.

If you find our Apps useful, please, leave a review on the AppStore/ Google Play. It's the best thing you can do to support us. Thank you!

I changed the way I ate in 2011, when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid. I had no energy, and I found it more and more difficult to maintain a healthy weight.

That’s when I decided to quit sugar, grains, and processed foods, and to start following a whole-foods-based ketogenic approach to food.

Hello,
I'm a Premium user of your app, but the sync between my iPad and my Android phone does not working after 3 years...
All devices are updates to last app version, and the sync is still Offline.
I followed all the guideline how to enable sync etc, but nothing changed.
I thought this bug was fixed, unfortunately is still there.
Hoping to hearing from you or your technical support,

Hello, I'm sorry I didn't catch this sooner. Could you please send a support email via the app? Blog comments are only checked occasionally but our support team will get back to you within 3 days. You can send it via the app or send email to feedback[at]ketodietapp[dot]com
The benefit of sending emails directly via the app is that we will be able to see the platform and version you are running as we tag emails with this metadata.

How do I know if I have the most recent version of the app installed? Do I need to go to google store and look for updates or does it update automatically?  A suggestion, it would be great if each and every post had a date on it. The site has become so large it is difficult to find details about the apps, and then to figure out which one to read first.  Is there a site map? Everything else works great but I find I spend more time looking at the site with my browser than using my android app.  Does the recipe search do ingredient search or only title search? I seem to only get title but thought I might be doing something wrong.

Hi Sher, apologies for the delayed response. This is a very old post and I don't always get to see all of the comments on the blog, at least not as quick as I'd wish to do so.
If you have automatic updates available then it should update as soon as we release a new version. I believe each post does have a date - is that what you were referring to? To learn more about the app (how to use it), please go to:
ketodietapp.com/keto-diet-app/guideFilter (the guide is for iOS but it's very similar to Android). We will add a guide to Android in the near future.
As for the search it should search through ingredients too but I'll double check and make sure this works as expected!
If you have any questions about the app, it's best to contact us via e-mail (you can do that directly via the app under Help). I hope this helps!

With the bar code scanner: will it allow you to scan individual ingredients and add the amouts if your creating a recipie or is it just individual foods? It would be really nice if you could scan say butter, add the amount, olive oil, salt, etc etc and it would compile everything for that meal including servings and get your totals per serving in fats, protiens, carbs etc.

Hi Jackie, yes with the barcode scanning (now in review on the AppStore!), you will be able to create custom meals by adding scanned ingredients. It won't be "instant" in the sense that you will have to "create" that custom ingredient (this is useful for future so you don't have to scan as the ingredient will be in the database) but it will be used in the custom meal as you scan it (similar to the way that custom ingredients can be created & used directly in a meal now).

Hi. I purchased KD Basic on Aug 29. Then I purchased/upgraded KDA on Sept 6. I'm on Android and have not been able to load the upgraded app. I messaged once thru this site about a week ago and got no reply. I'd really like a refund since it seems that this is not fully functional yet. I also read that there's a beta sync between devices (it's written Android phone can sync with iPad) but I got the opposite answer on the FB group from Konstas. I know how hard you work and I'm not complaining! But I think if I buy it because you say it works, then it should work. I know you say to go thru Google play if I want a refund but then Google play says to go to the app provider if there's a defect. So I'm back here asking. Thanks, in advance, for your response!

Hi Joan, beta syncing between devices is coming in the next update - it is not available yet (here it's listed ad "What's Next?"). Is that what you meant by the upgrade because this will be done in the upcoming update. Other than that, the "upgrade" simply refers to the fully featured app (planning, tracking and monitoring). If you wish to get a refund, it's best if you contact us via the "contact us" in the app - support emails are dealt with first. I cannot guarantee we will reply in time to comments on the blog, or emails sent via our website as we receive tens of them daily (these always take longer to reply to).

I currently have the full app on my ipad. If I buy the Android app will I be able to copy over y profile info and all the custom meals I have created? Or is this the data sync you mention above that is yet to come? If so, when is it expected please? Thanks.

Hi Vicky, full syncing between multiple devices and platforms is what we'll be working on after we release the barcode scanning feature and Planner enhancements listed above. It will be out in September but I'm not sure when exactly (I'll share more information in the next post about this update) 😊
