Step 1Prepare the hibiscus tea by pouring slightly over a cup of hot water over 4 to 6 dried hibiscus flowers. After about 3 to 5 minutes, remove the flowers. Alternatively, make your favorite sugar-free fruit tea.
Step 2Pour about two thirds of the tea in a small bowl and sprinkle in the gelatin. Once the gelatin has bloomed, place in a saucepan and gently heat up to fully dissolve. Do. not boil. Remove from the heat.
Step 3Add the lemon juice, sweetener, magnesium and potassium to the jar with the remaining tea. Let it sit until the fizzing has completely settled (this is essential for best magnesium absorption).
Note: See recipe tips above for sweetener and magnesium tips.
Step 4Combine the warm tea mixture with the cold mixture.
Step 5Pour into gummy molds. Keep warm or gently reheat if the gelatin starts to solidify in the saucepan. Place in refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours.
Note: Place your silicone mould onto a tray before filling to make moving it easy and disaster free (talking from experience!). My silicon tray came with a pipette, but a clean eye dropper would do the job too.
Step 6When set, pop out of molds and into a jar. Depending on the size of the gummies, you'll make up to 70 small gummy bears or 30-40 larger gummies. Store sealed at room temperature for up to a day, or in the fridge for up to a week.
