This recipe is based on a traditional Czech meal that I used to love as a kid. It will feed a crowd and is easy to prepare with just a few common ingredients.

The traditional Kuře na Paprice is served with dumplings that are made with eggs, flour, bread rolls, yeast, milk and salt. As you may have guessed, to make this meal low-carb, I serve it with cauliflower rice. Hope you all like it!

I changed the way I ate in 2011, when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid. I had no energy, and I found it more and more difficult to maintain a healthy weight.

That’s when I decided to quit sugar, grains, and processed foods, and to start following a whole-foods-based ketogenic approach to food.

I did some modifications but it then out delicious 😋
I replaced the chickens stick for best and the onion for red onion . Also, the lemon I used was the store bought. I cooked with sour cream and coconuts milk. One new fave. Plus, I made some Spanish cauliflower rice also with modifications. Great meal

I'm glad you enjoyed, thank you so much for sharing these tips!

Delicious!  I used thighs, Smoked Paprika and coconut milk from the can (not carton).  I will make it again.
Thanks for another good recipe!

Thanks April!

This looks amazing! We have a lot of Czechs here in Texas, and recently made a trip to Bohemia, visiting Prague, Pest and Vienna.. I picked up a LOT of Paprika and truffle oil and have no idea what to do with it! This recipe looks like it will easily become a family favorite, as I often make a sauce that is half marinara, half alfredo to put over many bases. Thank you for this!!

It's a small world! 😊 I hope you like it. We do use lots of paprika, allspice, bay leaves and caraway!

This is soooo appealing to my taste buds!
I do not miss white sauce anything anymore...
Finger licking!

This was amazing.  I used coconut milk and put lemon juice in to make the sour cream taste.  So delicious and easy.  Can you make this printer friendly?

That's great thinking! There is a print option right at the top of the post. I hope this helps!

I also add a bay leaf and a pinch of allspice, gives it an added authentic Czech flavour.

I agree!! 😊

Step 5, I assume you mean to add the onion and red pepper to the chicken STOCK, not the chicken. I'm making it now, and it smells delicious!

Thank you for spotting that Patricia! 😊

Loved this one, as did my non-keto husband. The sauce is rich and complex. Definitely do again 😊

Thank you Dee!

I just made this and it was awesome! I want to just drink the sauce!

Thank you Maryann!

This was really good! We didn't purée the sauce, but cut the onions and peppers quite tiny, and it still worked out well. The cauliflower rice we microwaved with softened sautéed onions and butter 4:30 min stirring every 1:30 min. Glad there are leftovers!

I'm glad you liked it Joan! 😊

Made the recipe exactly as stated and it turned out delicious.  The recipe was well written and easy to follow.  I served it with a rice pilaf.   I will definitely make it again with no changes.

Thank you Ruby, glad you liked it!

Pretty sure I'd never had any Czech recipe (or Czech-inspired) but this was absolutely delicious! I'll definitely be making this again! Thanks!

Thank you so much!! 😊)

Dekuji! The only Czech restaurant in Tokyo, where I live, has closed down, so now it is really just down to me to make Czech food at home. And as I am going keto, this is a very welcome recipe.

I know of a few Czech restaurants here in London and around but it does get tricky when searching for keto-friendly options 😊

Really? I only knew the Czech pub that served food in West Hampstead. Which others are there? I will be in London in August and would be quite keen to see another Czech restaurant.Thank you, Lukas

You know you might be right because I haven't been there for years. I think I might be confusing it with another one that is in Dublin! I thought there were two in London though... I guess I'll have to have a look. We often go to Greek restaurants with my fiancé because he is Greek. It's a lot easier to find keto-friendly foods there 😊

Brilliant. Reminds me of my childhood in Prague. Skvely!

Me too! That's what my mom used to make a lot. Dobrou chut! 😊

Hi Martina, thank you so much for this. I used to hate it at our school cantine...but since I can cook it low carb and knowing what's inside, i am definitely making it this weekend for my czech/english/ozzie kids. And husband of course.

Thank you Pavla, I totally agree, I have some bad memories too! Hope you like it 😊

Awesome!! On my to do list for when I'm back from Czech Rep! Going to see ma family this Thursday for a week - soo cannot wait!!!
Hope you're keeping well and thanks for this recipe! 😊

I think it may have been you who gave me this idea 😊 I remember someone mentioned this meal in a comment in another recipe and I think it may have been you. Hope you like it! 😊

Does it come out the same consistency if I use coconut milk to replace the dairy options?

Hi Linda, I tried it with Aroy-D coconut milk which is not as creamy as most tinned coconut milk products but tastes better. It was great - I couldn't tell it was made with coconut milk 😊
